Boat Building and Seamanship in Classic Philippine Society
This document provides details about ancient plank-built boats that were discovered in Butuan City, Philippines. Specifically, it discusses two sites where boat planks from the 4th and 13-14th centuries AD were found. The planks were up to 15 meters long and were joined using a technique called "lambuko" which involved carved wooden lugs and lashings to connect the planks and reinforce the boat's frame. This document describes the plank-built boat construction method and compares it to more modern techniques used in boat building.
